LeBleu Whirlwind Tour 2010

The LeBleu Whirlwind Tour 2010 went out with a bang.  Literally, Craig and I caught the stomach flu bug from my mom.  Craig felt it around Lloydminster and I, about 2 hours out of Edmonton.  After many stops along the highway and many trips visiting the mighty porcelain bowl I think we are finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.  Glad that the roads co-operated with me and the drive was good and safe.

Spent the last week with my mom and visiting my long time friend of about 35 years, Angie.  We have been friends since about grade 7 and it seems like we just fall into our conversations without hesitation.  I am in love with Ashton, her grandson, you could say he's a bit of a chatterbox and alot of times you just smile and nod as you have no idea what he is talking about.

Had a wonderful visit with many family members on the LeBleu side as Craig's sister Laura hosted an early Christmas dinner, we spent the night at their home along with Craig's parents.  His family bought us an IPod Touch, now we can Facetime with his brother and family in Florida and his parents.  Amazing little gadget.  Oh yeah, don't forget Angry Birds. haha

We were driving back and forth into Winnipeg to have lunch, dinner or just visits with friends.  It was a lot of driving but worth every minute of it to see everyone again.  Now I know how Craig felt when he came home.

Craig is gone to do some last minute errand in Edmonton and I will try to get my butt into the shower as my brother Mike and his friend Michelle are coming for a visit.  Tomorrow we will fly to Yellowknife and then back home to Cambridge Bay.  Sorry no pictures today.

Talk soon!

Early Christmas

A couple of days ago Craig and I went into Winnipeg, had a great lunch with Jillian, Cheryl, Kim and baby Allie.  After that we went shopping for our early Christmas present to each other, Craig bought some new pedals for his guitar and some cables.  We headed over to Don's Photo from there and all I have to say is 'kid in a candy store.'  I must of been very good this past year as Santa bought me a new lens for the Nikon.  A 50-500mm, F4.5-6.3 Sigma ended up in my hands along with a battery grip.  From there Hannah and Blitz had an appointment to donate blood.  It is one of the last times that Hannah will donate as she will be 10 next year, so maybe one or two more times.  As for Blitz it was his first time and his momma was so proud of him as he didn't move an inch when he donated.  After that we met our friends Sandy and Keith for dinner and then drove back to Lac du Bonnet.

Haven't had too much time to use the new lens as it has been storming here plus we went into the city again yesterday for an appointment for the Edge, some more shopping and to meet The Finches for dinner.  Craig drove back to his mom and dad's last night in the storm but we made it here safe and sound.  Again, we were up late playing cards with Craig's mom, his dad is the only sane one and went to bed at a decent time.

Today was a day of relaxing, never got up until 9am which if anyone knows me it is kinda unusual for me so I must of been tired.  Did get a couple of pics with the new lens, through the front window as it was still nasty out today.  Hope the roads are good tomorrow as we are again heading to the city for the day to spend some time with The Medwids and of course do some more shopping.  Sunday we return to Winnipeg as Craig's sister is hosting an early Christmas dinner with the LeBleus, can't wait to see everyone. Hmmm turkey!

While I write this Craig is getting a little family history as his parents are going through an old family book.  Will probably make some guacamole for a snack tonight as we need one when we play games. Oh yeah, a couple of pictures tonight of the bay area, a blue jay and a cute little squirrel.

Spending time in Lac du Bonnet

We have been in Lac du Bonnet spending time with the in-laws. No in-law jokes needed as I love my mother and father in law.  Our evenings are spent playing rummy, 65 and scrabble.  Craig's mom and I headed into town yesterday to do a little grocery shopping, I was in heaven as there were so many choices of fresh fruit and veggies.  Last evening and this evening we had a face-to-face conversation with Craig's brother Ken, his wife Andrea and their daughter Jade, us in Lac du Bonnet and them in Florida.  Last night the neighbours John and Bonnie came over for a visit and to look at some pictures of our adventures.  It is nice and relaxing here sitting in the living room, in front of a fire either reading or on our laptops.

There is no snow here yet so Craig and I decided to walk up to the 'mountain' with the dogs after lunch.  For those of you who do not what the mountain is here, it is part of the Canadian Shield.  The views up there are pretty and you can see Pinawa Bay and also Craig's mom and dad's home.  The dogs had a blast except for the couple of little mishaps, Hannah tried to jump up a rock and fell onto her back.  Yes Dr. Robertson her back but don't worry she is fine, she's a tough ole girl.  Blitz was running around like any 1 1/2 year old GSP and fell down a rock formation and now has a bit of a limp.  Nothing broken I think he probably just pulled something.

Tomorrow we head into Winnipeg for the day, vet re-checks for Blitz and Molly, going for lunch with some of the people from my old work, afternoon of shopping and meeting our friends Sandy & Keith for dinner.  Hannah is donating blood tomorrow and hopefully Blitz will for the first time.  All in all it will be a busy but good day tomorrow.

Tonights pics are from our walk up the mountain.

Manitoba Here We Come

Good morning world!  We arrived safely in Edmonton last night and just in time to have an hour of power shopping at Ikea.  It is just down the street from the Sawridge Inn where we are staying, LOVE this hotel. You could say we spent some cash at Ikea, bought new drapes, bathroom fixtures, handles for the kitchen cupboards, lights, etc etc etc.  Now I have to wait another couple of weeks before I can use any of these.

We are just about to leave for the long drive to Manitoba today but wanted to do a quick blog before heading out the door.  We are all doing fine including the dogs, so glad that they love going for truck rides.  Blitz really wanted to get into the front seat to snuggle at one point yesterday, I don't think he realizes that he is 55lbs.

We didn't see much for wildlife on the trip to Edmonton, a couple of foxes and alot of road kill including a moose, just glad it wasn't us that hit that moose.

Sorry no pics today just wanted to let you all know that we are fine.  I will not have internet access at my mom's so the next post will probably on Sunday evening when we are at Craig's parents.

Bison, Foxes, Lynx and Vegas?

We all made it safely in Yellowknife yesterday and the dogs did great.  Spent the night in Yellowknife and this morning we headed over to Old Town and went to Gallery of the Midnight Sun before we headed out on the road.  So here we sit in High Level, Alberta relaxing.

We seen alot of wildlife in between Yellowknife and High Level, 4 cross foxes, a lynx and two herds of bison.  Took pictures of one of the foxes and the bison but missed the lynx as he was long gone when we turned around.  From the MacKenzie River we drove in the dark to High Level.  The ferry on the MacKenzie is the only one that is still running on a daily basis and we were surprised by the progress of the bridge over the river.  There is only one span of the bridge base that needs to be completed, in September there were 3 spans that needed to be completed.

There is a small strip of hotels here in High Level that resembles old Vegas.  There are three hotels with the same name as the famous ones in Las Vegas, The Stardust, Flamingo and Sahara light up the street.

Tonight I will head to bed as soon as I am completed this as we have a long drive from here to Edmonton where we will spend one day and then head directly to Manitoba from there.
